Instructions for Canvas Final Exam Taking and Final Zoom Meeting

Instructions:

The final exam consists of two parts namely Part A and Part B. It may consist of T/F questions, short questions and long questions. The details are to be confirmed.
The questions in each part will be shown on screen at the same time. But the answer boxes will be shown on screen one-at-a-time
For each part of the final exam, it must be completed within 1 hour 15 minutes from the time you start. Manage your pace accordingly so that you do not run out of time.
The final exam will be conducted on Canvas. For each part of the exam, we will separate the questions from the answers by creating 2 set of Canvas "quiz", one consisting of only questions and the other consisting of only answers, and allow you to open 2 Canvas tabs, one for each so that you can read the questions on one tab and answer on the other tab WITHOUT leaving Canvas. Also, you must start both parts, i.e. Questions and Answers, at the SAME TIME.
The final exam will be proctored via a Zoom meeting (see guidelines below) which will be recorded. In order to take the final, you must be logged in to the Zoom meeting.

Topics and Exam-style

The final will test your knowledge on the followings:
- Topic 1: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
- Topic 2: Python Fundamentals for Artificial Intelligence
- Topic 3: Naive Bayes Classifier
- Topic 4: K-Nearest Neighbors
- Topic 5: K-Means Clustering
- Topic 6: Artificial Neural Network - Perceptron
- Topic 7: Artificial Neural Network - Multilayer Perceptron
- Topic 8: Digital Image Processing Fundamentals
- Topic 9: Convolutional Neural Network
- Topic 10: Minimax and Alpha-Beta Pruning
- Topic 11: Ethics of Artificial Intelligence
The final exam will mainly focus on the topics covered after the midterm. But you may still be tested the materials that we covered before the midterm.
It is a closed-notes exam. In addition, you are NOT allowed to use any textbooks and electronic devices (except the device you will use to connect to Canvas and a HKEA approved calculator).

Guidelines & Regulations:

It is your responsibility to make sure that you adhere to the following regulations. Failure to do so may lead to your final exam being voided.

First, join the assigned meeting (please check HERE) using your UST account connected to Zoom. Make sure that you join the meeting 1 hour before the final time (i.e. 11:40am) so that we can check your student ID/HKID/passport and to make sure that your configuration works fine.
You must use two different devices as follows:
1. A laptop/desktop that you will use to connect to Canvas and take the final (note that the tablet/mobile version of Canvas does not always function properly with Canvas).
2. Another device (mobile phone/tablet/laptop/desktop) that you will use to join the Zoom meeting.
Device (b) must have video and audio capabilities and you must make sure that its camera clearly shows your face (at least partially), your hands, and desk area so that we can make sure you are working on the Canvas final on your own. The screen of device (a) (i.e. the device where you are taking the Canvas final) must also be visible. However, the camera does not need to show your final input but just show enough to demonstrate thay the only active window is Canvas. See here for an example of "correct" configuration.
De-activate the sleep mode of your device. If you have your camera turned off or not correctly configured, you will not be allowed to take the final and there will not be any make-up final for you.
You are not allowed to access any other programs, applications, browser tabs, or windows on device (a), except for the Canvas window for taking the final. Keep in mind that Canvas tracks when you switch to a different window, application, or tab and we will check this.
While taking the final you must be alone in the room and no one else should be with you. If you are unable to have access to such a room, then you must inform the instructor of this at least two days before the final, explain why this is not possible and state who else might be in the room with you during the final.
During the final, you may be asked to adjust your camera if it is not well-placed or to show that you are the only person in the room so make sure that you have audio turned on in device (b), but don't put on your earphones or headsets. During the exam, you must remain silent and are not allowed to communicate verbally, electronically or in any other way with anyone, except for the invigilator.
If you have a question about the exam, you may click "raise hand" button. Then, the invigilator would take you to a breakout room and address the question through verbal communications.
You are allowed to have blank sheets of paper that you will use for rough work.

Exam Schedule

11:40 - End of exam	You are expected to have their (1) HKUST student ID and (2) HKID or passport ready at any time during the whole exam. You will be put in a separate breakout room to show your IDs.
11:40am	Join the assigned Zoom meeting room. We will check your 2 required devices.
12:40pm	You will be asked to compute "The HKUST Academic Honor Code" before you can read the exam.
12:45pm	The final question (Part A) and answer book (Part A) will be published. You can read the instructions before the exam starts.
12:45 - 2:00pm (Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes)	Final Exam (Part A): we will release the passcode at 12:45pm on Zoom. (You are expected to start both parts (i.e. Questions and Answers) at the same time.)
2:00 - 2:15pm	A 15-minute break. During the 15-minute break, you may move away from the camera, but you should leave your Zoom meeting connected and your camera on. Also, you should leave your 2 devices on and don't use them.
2:15pm	The final question (Part B) and answer book (Part B) will be published. You can read the instructors before the exam starts.
2:15 - 3:30pm (Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes)	Final Exam (Part B): we will release the password at 2:15pm on Zoom. (You are expected to start both parts (i.e. Questions and Answers) at the same time.)
